Pets
Whilst dogs are welcome at the cottage, it may be
advisable to leave your pets at home while you go on holiday. The heat can be
extreme - normally between 35 and 40 degrees in the summer which is hard for an
animal, especially when they are not used to it.
Also, in addition to the rabies injection, we have been
advised by our vet here that there are various tics which can kill a dog. eg 'piroplasmose',
'borreliose de lyme' and 'ehrlichiose'. All these tics are dangerous - dogs need
to be vaccinated regularly to avoid illness. There are also local 'bugs' which
many newcomer dogs and cats succumb to when they arrive in the country from
abroad, as they do not have immunity. |
